Science 10
Science 10 is typically the first science course that students will take in high school. It encapsulates all three sciences that students can pursue in their later high school years (Chemistry, Physics, and Biology) into one singular course. As Science 10 is the only science course most students will take in high school where the three sciences are not separated, it is incredibly important to have a good understanding of the material in this course in order to succeed in further science classes.
The only requirements to register for our Science 10 class is that you have access to a regular calculator and that you have a basic understanding of the science material covered in junior high.
Below are some of the key curricular outcomes that you will meet in our classes.
Curricular outcomes
- Determining the chemical formulas of ionic and molecular compounds and naming them
- Writing full, balanced chemical equations
- Understanding the significance of the mole and Avogadro's number in chemistry
- Calculating velocity, displacement, acceleration, and work in various types of movement and systems
- Understanding the Law of Conservation of Energy
- Identifying and explaining the function of certain organelles within a cell
- Explaining the process of photosynthesis
